Supporting the Ukrainian Refugee Community in the Nanaimo and Mid-Island Area
We provided for a Christmas event that was attended by some 50 families and recently supported an Easter event with the making of new puppets and props for a Puppet Theatre. This form of traditional Ukrainian entertainment is similar to the English pantomine productions.
With approximately 1500 refugees on the Island NA more are anticipated in Nanaimo. Most of them struggle with many problems.

The families are single mothers with children who have arrived here after forced evacuation from areas of the Ukraine that were occupied by Russia. They have very little in the way of belongings or resources.
The group putting on the production has a professional history and once the equipment and puppets have been made they could be used again in annual or other productions.
